Indian Cinema Receives Global Acclaim – Sanjay Jaju The Secretary of Information and Broadcasting attends AIFF
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasized the importance of cinema as a ‘soft power’ and has extended his support to the film industry. Today, Indian films are attracting global audiences and receiving exceptional appreciation worldwide,” stated Mr. Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India during his visit to the 10th Ajanta Ellora International Film Festival (AIFF) at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Originally scheduled to grace the inauguration ceremony of the festival on 15th Jan, Mr. Jaju had to postpone his plans due to some unforeseen reasons. However, he did visit the festival next day and interacted with the organizers and audiences. He was given a warm welcome at the festival by several eminent personalities including the Honorary Chairperson of AIFF and acclaimed filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, Organizing Committee Chairperson Nandkishore Kagliwal, Festival Director Sunil Sukthankar, Artistic Director Chandrakant Kulkarni, creative directors Jayprad Desai, Gyanesh Zhoting, Shiv Kadam and convener Nilesh Raut.
Reflecting on the rich cultural heritage of India, Mr. Jaju highlighted that cinema is a modern addition in India’s long and rich legacy of art, drama, dance, and music from the ancient Natya Shastra. “It’s been a year since I assumed the charge of Union Secretary. During this period, witnessing the cultural vibrancy and cinematic diversity in regions like Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and festivals like AIFF is truly inspiring. The collective efforts of local communities to establish this festival deserve immense appreciation,” he said.
Mr. Jaju expressed his joy at attending the festival. He also attended a Masterclass by Ashutosh Gowarker and was deeply impressed by the insights and interactions. He assured the gathering that the Government of India will provide its full support to innovative initiatives like the AIFF, which stand out for their uniqueness. “The central government is committed to nurturing such exceptional endeavours and ensuring their growth in the future,” he affirmed.
